Self-Hosted Cloud Infrastructure

Built a Linux server environment using Docker Compose, isolating PostgreSQL and RabbitMQ onto a private network to keep sensitive backend services away from public web traffic.

Replaced manual SSH deployments by writing GitHub Actions workflows that automatically build and push Docker images to a self-hosted private Gitea registry whenever code is committed, triggering automated deployments.

Maintain 24/7 uptime for over a dozen self-hosted applications that drive daily workflows, such as personal cloud storage, password vaults, financial trackers, notes and more.

Configure reverse proxies, storage volumes, and automated backup routines to ensure data persistence and secure external access across all personal web services and NAS file systems.

Gim

Gim is a modern, lightweight text editor written in Go that brings the power of vim-style modal editing to your terminal. Built on the excellent Charm stack, it combines the speed of Go with the elegance of functional UI patterns.

Developed a vim-like terminal text editor in Go using the Elm Architecture (BubbleTea), implementing a clean Model-Update-View pattern for predictable state management and testability.

Designed a finite state machine to parse vim’s composable command grammar, supporting count prefixes, operator-motion composition and text objects.

Integrated syntax highlighting with a Treesitter engine powered by grammars and queries.

Implemented a multi-buffer editing system separating content from presentation, supporting buffer navigation, dirty-state tracking and lazy loading for efficient memory usage

Markdown to HTML Transpiler

A C++ tool that converts Markdown files into clean HTML. It uses a recursive descent parser to recognize headings, lists, and formatting, then outputs valid HTML for easy web publishing or automation. The code is modular, modern, and designed to be both reliable and easy to extend. I have plans to migrate this project to a different tech stack in the near future.

University Research Project · December, 2024 - August, 2025

Acoustic Drone Detection Sensor Network

This project aims to develop a low-cost, acoustic drone detection system as a supplementary security measure for locations like borders and airports. The system will use small microphones and microcontrollers to detect drone sounds, even amidst background noise, at distances of at least 50 feet. This data will be collected by a network of weather-resistant, solar-powered sensors, transmitted wirelessly via LoRa and WiFi, and securely reported in real-time to Amazon Web Services for monitoring.

This project is a research project funded by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the Undergraute Research Institute (URI).

Neovim Extension · February, 2024

Gomon.nvim

A simple hot reloading plugin for neovim built for Go development. Have you ever experienced the need to constantly restart and rerun a large Golang project? Are you not interested in using Docker? Does the repetitive setup of Air drain your sanity? Are you tired of launching a terminal and slowing down your workflow just to copy and paste the same command repeatedly?

FBLA Project Submission · October, 2023 - April, 2024

Vendor Management System

A fully fleshed out vendor management system that allows for the management of vendors. This project was built for the FBLA Coding and Programming 2024 competition, and was later adopted by West-MEC Central Campus.

The application includes an AI chatbot which can respond to queries about the data, user account management and creation with roles, 2-factor authentication, secure data storage, 100% responsive web design on all platforms, session management to ensure secure and safe data transfer, and token requirements for user creation.

Unfortunately, this project is not open source and has been taken down due to data privacy concerns.

This project qualified for the National FBLA Leadership Conference in 2024!

Software Engineering Intern

Garmin

Worked on the Marine Cloud backend software engineering team as a summer intern. I worked on chart plotter data delivery updates, devops/automation solutions and internal simulation/testing tooling.

  • Optimized chart plotter map delivery by implementing selective subregion downloads, reducing product size, bandwidth and memory requirements for customers.
  • Designed a centralized testing and mocking tool for a major system upgrade, helping engineers test code faster and with less friction.
  • Implemented a hybrid proxy service that conditionally routes requests to live environments or intercepts them to serve known mock data, enabling reliable and isolated component testing.
  • Updated CI/CD pipelines with automated resource cleanup scripts to prevent infrastructure bloat and reduce cloud operating costs.

Poppin' Jobs

  • Fixed performance issues in the search engine by replacing per-job database queries with a single bulk query, reducing dozens of database hits per job to one and significantly improving response times for large search results.
  • Built and launched an AI-powered resume tool from scratch, working directly with users to shape the features and overall workflow.
  • Pitched a technical proposal and roadmap to modernize CI/CD infrastructure, transitioning from manual deployments to an automated pipeline leveraging Azure DevOps services with testing and containerization.
  • Implemented comprehensive unit and integration testing suites across backend services, ensuring pipeline stability during rapid feature deployments.
